Exploring Visual Data

Maximizing & Minimizing Object Panes

Maximizing Object Panes

Sections with multiple object panes give users the option to maximize and minimize the visual data within a pane to review the metrics in more detail.

To maximize the visual data, proceed with the following steps:

  1. Click or hover over the object pane with your mouse. A group of icons will appear in the top right corner of the pane.
  2. Click the “Maximize” icon. It will blow up the object pane as shown in the video.

Minimizing Object Panes

Once an object pane has been maximized, you may return the dashboard to its regular section format to reduce the amount of detail and view the visual data as a whole.

To minimize the maximized visual data, proceed with the following steps:

  1. Click or hover over the object pane with your mouse. A group of icons will appear in the top right corner of the pane.
  2. Click the “Restore” icon. It will blow up the object pane as shown in the video.

Legends & Pop-Out Metrics

Object Pane Legends

Legends can be found on various graphs and are positioned in different places based on the information being delivered.

To explore specific visual measurements of each item, select the item label in the legend.

Pop-Out Metrics

Pop-Out metrics are designed to quickly review the details of different graphs. To view the Pop-Out metrics, simply drag the mouse over points in the graph, as shown in the video clip.

Controls

Button Bar Control

The button bar controls are utilized in instances where a category is required and the selected variable either filter the data or changes data grouping with parameters in the linked objects.

To toggle between the button controls, simply click the button you would like to view.

Section Containers & Section Tabs

Stacking containers display the objects as if they are in a slide deck. Only one object is displayed at a time. A stacking container has section tabs that allow users to move between objects. The visual outputs may differ between each button, depending on the metrics associated with each.

To view different tabs in a section container, simply click the tab you would like to view.

Prompt Containers

Nested Filter

Prompt Containers group list controls – such as nested filters and checkboxes – into dropdown-menus and toggle bars. List controls are widely used in ISA dashboards. The controls narrow the data by being interactive to the objects outside the prompt container and can also narrow down the filter by being interactive with each other.

Nested filters are drop-down menu-style options that allow for a single selection to view specific groups of data.

Checkboxes

Prompt Containers group list controls – such as nested filters and checkboxes – into dropdown-menus and toggle bars. List controls are widely used in ISA dashboards. The controls narrow the data by being interactive to the objects outside the prompt container and can also narrow down the filter by being interactive with each other.

Checkboxes are located within certain drop-down menus that allow for multiple selections to view specific groups of data.
