Substantive Change
Consistent with requirements of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), NC State notifies SACSCOC of any substantive change prior to implementation and obtains acknowledgment or approval, as required. Examples of substantive changes include changes to the established mission of the institution, establishment of new degree programs, development of an off-campus site where a student may obtain 50% or more of credits required for a degree, closing a program or an off-campus site, and entering collaborative agreements with other institutions.
To ensure compliance with SACSCOC’s Policy on Substantive Change for SACSCOC Accredited Institutions, the Substantive Change Review Team (SCRT) at NC State reviews proposals during the internal curriculum review and approval process. Substantive change notifications and requests are submitted to SACSCOC by the Chancellor. Contact NC State’s Accreditation Liaison for assistance at 919-515-3062.
