Collaboration on Academic Careers in Higher Education (COACHE) Survey
The Harvard School of Graduate Education’s COACHE Survey is a national survey that collects information on a wide range issues identified as critical to faculty satisfaction and engagement, and therefore, to recruitment and retention efforts. Topics covered in the survey include the nature of work in research, teaching, and service; tenure and promotion practices; resources and support; department collegiality, quality, and engagement; governance and leadership; and benefits and compensation. Reports on results include peer comparisons, and NC State faculty subgroups comparisons (e.g., gender).
Dashboard NEW!
An interactive dashboard with COACHE trend data (2011, 2015, 2018, and 2021 administrations), filterable by year, tenure track status (tenure track, professional track), tenure status (tenure track only; tenured vs pre-tenured), rank (tenure track faculty only; full, associate, assistant), gender, and race/ethnicity. Also included are trend comparisons between NC State overall results and those of our aggregated COACHE peer group.

NC State Faculty Well-Being Survey
The Faculty Well-Being Survey was locally developed and administered to NC State Faculty in 2006, with the intention of administering it on an ongoing basis. The survey was discontinued when replaced by our participation in the national COACHE survey of faculty.
